Being Tenacious.

We are all busy people.

In my current project role I am being pulled away from the day to day activities to attend Vendor visits and Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), time away from the desks can lead to jobs not getting completed, that was today’s dilemma! I had attended a FAT earlier in the month but I had not written up my visit report. It’s important we write these reports as they provide an exceIlent opportunity to pass valuable learning and lessons on to the greater project and commissioning team.

I live by a number of core personal values, one of which is to be tenacious and always get things done. This is vitally important stuff for me, so today I had to sit, drag all the notes together and draft the report. Having now finished it, I can report a nice warm fuzzy feeling inside and a sense of accomplishment; being successful at times demands one must also be tenacious.

Happy and safe commissioning always…

On the road again…

…well it comes with the job, commissioning often means travel and that’s what’s in my plans today. Be it a factory acceptance test, catching up with a specific vendor, travelling to the contractors home office and going on assignment, during the preparation and early stages of the implementation process or through the full commissioning program one finds oneself on the road and checking in and out of hotels. I try and put these periods to good use, sorting out the e-mails, catching up with my reading, indeed it was during an extended assignment on the road where the idea and a considerable amount of the text for my book was created, so it’s not all bad, turn the free time into a positive, add personal value…

Until next time, safe travels…

Welcome to the commissioning zone of the “Blogosphere”

Hello World,

I was encouraged by a lovely young close friend and colleague, Melissa, to get the word of my process plant commissioning knowledge and expertise “out there” to the help those of you who may need assistance in commissioning your projects. “out there” to her, meant social networks other than the confines of my book website, (“Chemical and Process Plant commissioning Handbook”), so here I am, a crusty old commissioning guy, an advocate of change being good, dipping his toes into the great unknown!

Melissa assured me that those younger members of the worlds population use this form of communication all the time, I therefore hope my and hopefully then “our” commentry will help me deliver my life’s quest of helping as many people as possible deliver their commissioning exploits safely, effectively, efficiently and right first time.

Let the games begin…
